FootballmadeinGhana.com presents players who were outstanding in their position after the first round of the season.
1- Abdullai Iddrisu ( Bechem United)- 12 clean sheet in 17 games for Abdullai Iddrisu. Kept 7 consecutive clean sheet before Kofi Owusu of Berekum Chelsea halted his run in matchday 17.
He has been a key to Bechem United heroics in the first round. He is the reason they have the best defence in the League.
2- Christopher Acheampong ( Accra Lions)– The debutant may have been struggling in the League but their right back has been a revelation in this season’s competition.
Acheampong has picked three man of the match award and has been consistent since the start of the campaign.
He is very good in attack and defend very well, a typical modern day right back.
3- Imoro Ibrahim ( Kotoko)– Imoro started the season as back up for Patrick Asmah.
The left back since the injury of Asmah has made the position his own putting up impressive performance match after match.
The former Karela United defender has made four assist in the ongoing campaign and ended the first round as the defender with the most assist.
4- Konadu Yiadom ( WAFA)- Not suprised he is being chase by Hearts of Oak and other clubs outside the country.
Konadu Yiadom is the player with the most MVPs in this season’s league, winning four man of the match awards.
Despite the poor form of WAFA, the defender has been a standout putting up a good performance for the club.
5- Osei Kuffour ( Bechem United) – What a season he is having for Bechem United. The towering centre back has been a pillar at the back of the Hunters forming a good partnership with Kofi Agbesimah.
He is part of the reason the Hunters have conceded the least amount of goals in the first round.
The young defender since joining Bechem United from Kumasi based Division Two side has become one of the hot cakes in the Ghana Premier League.
Kuffour boast of a goal and two man of the match awards in 16 games played.
DM – Razak Kasim ( Great Olympics) – What a player he is. Workaholic and hardworking.
Kasim has been the unsung hero of the Great Olympics. The defensive midfielder is one of the best in the League due to his interceptions and his ability to win the ball in the center of the pitch.
CM – Umar Bashiru ( Karela United) – 7 goals for a central midfielder. Umar Bashir is having one of his best season’s in the Ghana Premier League.
The former Asante Kotoko midfielder has won two MVPs this season scoring seven goals in 16 games.
His presence in the Karela United midfield makes Kobby Mensah’s side hard to overcome.
AM- David Abagna Sandan ( RTU) – Abagna’s decision to leave Ashantigold for RTU was described as backwards. But the midfielder has justified the transfer with his performance for the returnees.
The former Wa All Stars midfielder scored eight goals which led to his inclusion in the Black Stars final squad for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
Abagna has become the most important player in the RTU set up.
LW- Augestine Okrah ( Bechem United) – Okrah is gradually getting back to his best after a dissapointing spell at Asante Kotoko.
The attacker since returning to Bechem United has scored eight goals and registered three assist in the process.
His experience and influence is the reason behind the current form of Bechem United.
RW- Bright Adjei ( Aduana Stars) – The experience bright Adjei made sure Aduana Stars return to winning ways scoring the quickest hat trick in the Premier League in their 3-0 win over Eleven Wonders.
Adjei has lived up to the billing for the Dormaa based club scoring nine goals in 16 games.
CF- Frank Etouga Mbella ( Kotoko) – The Cameroonian attacker has hit the ground running for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Etouga has scored 11 goals in 10 games powering the Porcupines to the top of the League.
Mbella Etouga has bagged two hat tricks this season in Asante Kotoko wins against Ashantigold and Accra Lions.
He currently leads the goalscoring chart with 11 goals in 11 games.
