Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed Black Stars players were given $20,000 each as an appearance fee for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana recorded its worst-ever AFCON campaign at the 2021 African Cup of Nations where they exited the competition after the group stages failing to win a single game.
Speaking in the aftermath of the team’s disastrous AFCON campaign, Mr. Asante Twum stated the players were not given any winning bonuses but instead got appearance fees.
“Black Stars players didn’t get any bonus because they didn’t win a game but they got $20,000 each as appearance fee. Other countries paid more.” he told Starr FM.
