The wait is over and the stage is set for Africa’s biggest stars to shine on the continent’s biggest football fiesta.

A game befitting of the tag, an African classic opens up the tournament; undoubtedly the two favorites for automatic qualification from the Group. An epic battle set in the animal kingdom; the Lions up against the stallions.

Cameroon v Burkina-Faso will open the 2021 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations and it’s certainly a game many have billed to treat patrons to an exciting encounter.

The hosts will be looking to get off to a positive start and provide their teeming fans something to cheer about.

Cameroon, five-time winners of the competition, are huge favorites for the tournament and Coach Toni Conceicao has got a huge burden of responsibility of getting his team to live up to that tag.

Although the Lions do not have a star-studded team, the Portuguese tactician has managed to get his side knit together perfectly balancing their defensive duties and attacking responsibilities in spectacular fashion.

Standing in their way for opening day glory, however, is a young Burkinabe side whose youthful exuberance could be a lethal weapon as well as their drawbacks.

Having missed out on the last edition, Burkina-Faso are back for this year’s edition and with a squad filled with the next generation of talents, they should be an interesting side to watch.

Cameroon, however, hold their advantage over Burkina-Faso in previous meetings at the AFCON with the Lions unbeaten against the Stallions.
