Veteran Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is hopeful of signing for a new club during the activation of the second transfer window.
The experienced shot-stopper is currently unattached since departing Legon Cities at the end of last season.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM, the 36 year old said he’s been at home all this while during the start of the ongoing 2021-22 Ghana Premier League campaign.
“I did not sign for any club. I am hoping I get to play in the second round,” he said.
Despite been unattached, Dauda expects to find a new club and open to a local or a foreign deal. “Maybe I will sign for a club in Ghana or outside. Hoepfully I will sign for a club during this second window,” he told Happy FM.
Asked about how he keeps himself fit, Dauda indicated that he trains on his own to keep in shape and be ready for any offer from interested clubs. .
“Since I’ve not retired yet, I haven’tĀ stopped training. I’m keeping my shape to avoid the situation of not being ready when an opportunity pops up. As a goalkeeper, if you stay out of the game for long without training, you become rusty. So I keep my shape to ensure I am ready for any opportunity that comes up,” he said.
Fatau Dauda is a former Ghana Premier League winner with Obuasi-based Ashantigold. He has over 20 years experience in the Ghanaian top flight, manning the posts for clubs like the aforementioned, Okwahu United and Legon Cities.
He is also a former goalkeeper of Nigerian giants Enyimba FC. At national level, he represented the Black Stars most notably during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
