Ghana’s defeat to Algeria on Wednesday should serve as a wake-up call for everyone involved with the Black Stars, former national goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has opined.
The Black Stars were suffered a 3 nil defeat at the hands of the Desert Foxes-who are the reigning African champions- in a pre-AFCON 2021 tournament friendly.
Aside the result, Ghana’s overall performance left little to be desired leading many football enthusiasts to rule out any chance of the national side winning the ultimate during the competition to be staged in Cameroon.
Reacting to Ghana’s defeat, Fatau Dauda who represented the Black Stars at major tournaments beginning 2013 believes the exercise against the North Africans was worthwhile as it helped exposed the true state of the team.
He opines that, the result will serve as a wake-up call for the Black Stars
“Its good we’ve played a friendly match to know our state before the main tournament. I’m very sure the technical team will now know what to do before we play the first match in the tournament”, he told Happy FM in an interview.
“The friendly match we played is a wake-up cal to everybody in the team,” Dauda concluded.
