Ghanaian footballer Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has admitted to being under pressure in these early stages of his young career.
The teenager has shot to fame on the local terrain after excelling for Ghana’s U-20 side at the victorious Africa Youth Championship campaign last year. It was a tournament where the 17 year old dazzled and won the hearts of many Ghanaians due to his exploits.
Eventually, he was named the MVP of the tournament effectively making him the best U-20 player on the continent.
Fatawu Issahaku has admitted living with this tag means he’s found himself under the spotlight.
Despite how stressful this can be, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku indicates that he uses this as a fuel to continue to strive for excellence.
Speaking from Ghana’s camp in Doha where he’s part of the Black Stars final squad for AFCON 2021, the Dreams FC attacker admitted to feeling a bit pressured at times.
“Actually yeah, there is something like that. Because everyone watch the things I do now and I think they expect more things from me so there’s a little bit pressure in it,” he said.
“But for me, I take it as motivation because I always want to do something that will keep me going. So it always boost me up to do something more,” he added.
Fatawu Issahaku will be making his tournament debut with the Black Stars at the AFCON 2021.
Ghana has been drawn in the same group with Morroco, Gabon and Comoros. Coach Milovan Rajevac’s side open their campaign with a ckahs against the Atlas Lions of Morroco on January 10.
