The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt E. S. Okraku has urged the Ghana Police Service to set up a sports Policing unit to combat hooliganism at match venues in the country.
Football in Ghana has been plagued by cases of violence at match venues which have affected following and overall patronage of products of the GFA.
In the past years, cases of attacks on players and other match officials have been rife in the Top two tiers of the Ghana Football pyramid.
To tackle this menace, the Ghana Football Association has identified the Ghana Police as a key partner in this quest.
The urgent need to get this done has influenced an interaction between a delegation from the Ghana Football Association led by its president with the Inspector General of Police, COP George Akuffo Dampare.
The Ghana FA boss noted that setting up a dedicated unit to tackle the rising cases of hooliganism in the country is the way to go.
