King Faisal defeated WAFA in their opening game of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday.
A late strike from Zubairu Ibrahim handed the Insha Allah boys a hard-working win at the
Baba Yara Stadium.
King Faisal coach Nurudeen Ahmed handed debut to six new players on the day.
Frank Boateng, Evans Sarfo, Mawuli Wayo, Ibrahim Osman, Abdul Latif and Ortis Sam were all handed debut start in the game.
WAFA coach Sadiq Abubakar handed debut to midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang in midfield.
It was king Faisal who started the game very well and came close to scoring but Ortis Sam’s shot went wide.
King Faisal came close to scoring again this time Osei Bonsu did well to denied Mawuli Wayo.
WAFA defended very well and made sure they go to the break unscathed.
After the break, WAFA were reduced to 10 men after Marvin Owusu was shown his second booking in the game.
King Faisal took advantage of the numerical advantage and kept pushing for the goal.
Substitute Zubairu Ibrahim tested Osei Bonsu but his close shot was saved.
King Faisal kept huffing and puffing and finally got the winner in the 90th minute.
Zubairu Ibrahim tapped home a cross from Ibrahim Osman to score the only goal of the game.
