Communications Director for Accra Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has leaped to the defense of Coach Samuel Boadu following harsh criticisms after Sunday’s horrendous performance from the continental club masters.
The Phobians were battered 6-1 in Casablanca by Wydad Athletic Club in the second leg of the CAF Champions League second-round preliminary tie.
The result was one of Hearts’ worst defeats in Africa and meant the Phobians dropped down into the CAF Confederations Cup.
Boadu, who led the Phobians to a historic double last season, has come under severe criticisms following his team’s horrible performance with many tagging him as a bad coach but Opare Addo believes one result doesn’t define the abilities of a coach.
“The fact that the coach [Samuel Boadu] lost 6-1 against Wydad Atheltic Club does not make him a bad coach,” he toldĀ Asempa FM.
“The issue is about how the team and the coach bounce back from the defeat and make sure we are in the best shape for our next task,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will be participating in the Confederations Cup and have been drawn against Algerian side, JS Souara in the playoffs.
