Ghana attacker Emmanuel Gyasi scored an own goal in Spezia’s defeat to Sampdoria in Serie A on Friday night.
Sampdoria defeated Spezia 2-1 at Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
Gyasi’s misfortune occurred in the 15th minute after he headed the ball into his own net to give Sampdoria the lead.
Sampdoria doubled their lead after 36 minutes after Candreva found the back of the net with a neat.
Spezia stepped up their game in the second half and pushed to reply and reduce the deficit.
Their goal however came far too late, as substitute Daniele Verde scored the 2-1 goal four minutes into stoppage time.
Gyasi was hauled in the 59th minute after it became evidently clear the attacker was struggling to recover from the early setback.
