The Ethiopian Football Federation have submitted a formal request to the Kenyan Football Federation for the use of the Nyayo National Stadium for their penultimate 2022 World Cup Qualifier against Ghana.
Ethiopia will host Ghana for their matchday 5 encounter of the ongoing 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in November but will have to host the Black Stars outside their preferred National Stadium after it was deemed unfit by the CAF Club Licensing body.
The Bahir Dar National Stadium has previously hosted Ethiopia’s World Cup Qualifying home ties against South Africa and Zimbabwe but failed to pass the latest tests carried out by the CAF Club Licensing body.
CAF ordered Ethiopia to submit a new venue to host the Black Stars in November latest Wednesday 20 October 2021 and the Ethiopia Football Federation has chosen the Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya.
Ghana are currently 2nd place on the standings in Group G, a point behind leaders South Africa while Ethiopia are 3rd and Zimbabwe are bottom.
