Crystal Palace and Ghana defender Jeffrey Schlupp has reacted to his equaliser in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Leicester.
The defender made an instant impact from the bench as he scored 28 seconds after joining the fray.
Palace who trailed by 2 goals were handed a lifeline after Micheal Olise pulled one back for the Eagles.
Vieira in search of salvaging a point or a victory threw Jeffrey Schlupp into the fray and the substitution proved to be a tactical masterstroke as he levelled matters for the Eagles.
Schlupp who was delighted to have scored right after his introduction revealed Vieira gave him precise instructions in order to achieve the needed impact.
“The gaffer has put me on to try and impact the game, and get in the box,” Schlupp said after the game, as reported by his club’s official website.
“I managed to do that straight away and obviously I’m happy to get the goal. I’ll take the goals however they come. I wanted to get in the box and with my header I just wanted to get it on target.
“[Vieira] told me to play in the pockets, play close to the strikers as a right-forward and I managed to find myself close to the goal – and I managed to get myself into the box and get a goal.”
The draw has moved Palace to 14th on the table, one spot and one point below Leicester.
