Accra Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed has hailed the new additions the club’s management have made to the playing body.
Hearts of Oak won the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup double last season with a solid squad technically steered by Head Coach Samuel Boadu.
The successes chalked last season means the club will have more competitions to play. While they compete in the CAF Champions League, Hearts will also attempt to defend the league title and the FA Cup trophy won.
In a bid to ensure this becomes reality, the Phobians moved in the transfer market to bolster the playing body.
The likes of Enoch Asubonteng (WAFA) Gladson Awako (Great Olympics) and Kofi Kordzi (free transfer) were recruited to join the squad while youth team product Salim Adams was also promoted to join the senior team.
These additions according to Fatawu has improved the overall quality in the team and also increased competition. This he believes will kill complacency as the players work hard in training for selection into the starting team every week.
“Yeah, I can say they (new signings) have improved us. Every season, every club does recruitment to build their team,” Fatawu Mohammed told Asempa FM.
“When they (new signings) joined us, they have made us extra strong. So that’s a plus for the technical team and the playing body in the sense that, anyone who gets the chance to play knows they can’t grow complacent because of the existing competition.
“So those playing will be serious and those on the bench will work extra harder to get an opportunity,” he added.
Two new boys Kofi Kordzi and Salim Adams were on target as Hearts of Oak beat CI Kamsar of Guinea to progress to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
