Black Stars midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso has expressed his confidence in his former boss, CK Akonnor to succeed in his next coaching roles.
The former Black Stars player saw his contract terminated by the Ghana Football Association earlier this week as head coach, following a string of uninspiring performances with the team.
His team, despite winning against Ethiopia produced a far from thrilling performance, which saw Ghanaians doubting the capabilities of the head coach.
The situation worsened following the 1-0 defeat the Stars suffered at the hands of South Africa days later.
The aforementioned fixtures according to the FA were key in terminating CK Akonnor’s contract and through the Exco has constituted a team to search for a replacement.
Mubarak Wakaso who scored the only goal in the opening game of the qualifiers against Ethiopia has now reacted to the sacking of the coach.
In a Twitter post, spotted this afternoon, Mubarak Wakaso thanked the coach for inspiring his footballing career and also expressed his confidence in the former Asante Kotoko coach succeeding in subsequent roles.
“When I was a little boy in Tamale I watched you play football. Later, I became a ball boy/ player for Gold Fields where you played. You became my coach at the Black Stars. Thank you for everything and best of luck in your next job. I know you will succeed, CK Akonnor”.
