Beposo based Asekem FC will battle Kwamo based Future Stars for the Ashanti Regional Division One slot on Sunday at Ejisu Okese Park.
With both sides yet to taste defeat in the soon-to-end Ashanti Region Division Two Middle League, Sunday’s clash could best be described as a fisticuff between the undisputed best clubs in the third tier of the Garden city.
Kwamo-based Future Stars pitched in Group A together with Benab FC, MBC FC and Kumasi Sports Academy kicked off the competition with a 3-1 victory over Benab FC before settling for a one-all stalemate with MBC Football Club and eventually sealed their ticket for the finals when they slaughtered Kumasi Sports Academy.
On the other side of the divide Asekem FC, yet to drop points in the ongoing competition, were in the group of death alongside favorites Ebony FC, PRO Players and Jachie Youth.
Unperturbed by the tough nature of the group, Asekem went about their business on a frenzy when they lashed PRO Players by three goals to nil in their opening group fixture and followed it up with a hard-fought, nail-biting narrow win over Ebony FC before completing their their successive victories with a 2-1 win over Jachie Youth.
Both sides boast of a healthy goal per game ratio with the two sides recording seven goals in three games, working an average of 2.3 goals per game, which could serve as an anecdote for a tantalizing clash with two sides ready and prepared to go all out for the coveted slot.
Conversely, both sides once again have identical statistics ahead of the finals, conceding just two goals in as many games played, an average of 0.6 goals conceded per game, which could prove the decisive factor in what appears to be a battle of equals.
All roads will surely lead to the Nana Afrane Okese park in Ejisu on Sunday, September 12 2021 as Future Stars tango with Asekem FC to secure the sole ticket from the region to the Division One League next season.
The game kicks off at 14.00 hours GMT (2.00pm local time).
