Former Ghana International Yaw Preko has backed strikers Kwame Peprah of Orlando Pirates and Kwame Poku of USM Algers as the best candidates to take up the goal-scoring mantle of the Black Stars.
The Black Stars have struggled for goals as the quest to replace Asamoah Gyan who is the country’s all-time top scorer has seemingly looked unfruitful.
The 35-year-old who tops the chart for most goals scored for the senior national team with 51 goals has been absent from the team since he last featured for the team during the 2019 AFCON.
Despite claims from Gyan that he hasn’t retired, the forward hasn’t broken into the Black Stars, thus creating a void in the striking department of the Black Stars
Former Medeama Coach, Yaw Preko, has however suggested Kwame Preprah and Kwame Opoku have the talent and potentials to replicate Gyan’s exploits with the national team if given the opportunity.
“Asamoah Gyan’s exit has created a void at Ghana Black Stars and difficult for our attackers to score”. – Yaw Preko said.
“I believe strongly that former attacker of King Faisal Football Club and Asante Kotoko Sporting Club respectively, Kwame Peprah and Kwame Opoku are the best pair to fill the goal-scoring void in the National team” – he added.
