FootballmadeinGhana.com rated the performance of the Black Stars players on the day.
Richard Ofori (GK) ( 3/10) – Looks so rusty. Always a suspect in the post. Nearly gifted the South Africans a goal just after the recess. Got injured late in the game was replaced with Ati Zigi.
Fatawu Mohammed ( 4/10)-The Hearts of Oak defender had a debut to forget. Got his passes wrong and also look suspect when defending. Could have acted quickly to prevent the South African goal.
Alexander Djiku ( 6/10)- Another majestic display from the Strasbourg defender. Kept it tight at the back. His combination with Mensah was in point despite been their first time playing together.
Jonathan Mensah ( 6/10)- Mensah exhibited matured display on the day. Defended very well and won almost a the aerial duels. Solid game from the Columbus Crew defender.
Gideon Mensah ( 6/10)- Very great display from the Bordeaux left back. Offered a lot in attack and also defended very well. He could have released the ball earlier in the build up to South African goal.
Mubarak Wakaso ( 5/10)- Good display from the tireless midfielder. Was everywhere on the pitch. Won most of the midfield battles. Committed a lot of fouls and also misplaced chunk of his passes
Emmanuel Lomotey ( 6/10)- Not bad from the Amiens midfielder. Kept it tight in midfield. Did exactly what he was tasked to do. Got his shot passes right. Provided the needed shield to the center back.
Majeed Ashimeru ( 5/10)- Struggled at the beginning but settled as the game went on. Got his passes well and surged forward a lot. Got injured in the second half and was withdrawn for Baba Iddrisu.
Yaw Yeboah (6/10)- Stared the game very well but faded out as the game went on. Didn’t offer much in the second half as Ghana were forced to defend.
Joel Fameyeh ( 5/10)- Not a bad outing from the Orenburg attacker. Was very dangerous on the left side. Caused the South Africans defenders a lot of problems with his runs. Was withdrawn for Kwame Poku .
Andre Dede Ayew (C) (4 /10)- Another dissapointing outing from the skipper. Deployed as the arrow. Didn’t get much supplies and had to draw back to get supplies. Was withdrawn for Samuel Owusu.
Substitute
Lawrence Ati Zigi ( 2/10) – Unlucky to concede after replacing the injured Richard Ofori.
Kwame Poku (3 /10) – Didn’t get much supplies from the midfield. Was left alone in the attack as Ghana sat deep to defend.
Samuel Owusu ( 3/10)- Not an impressive cameo from the Al Fayha attacker. Very bad.
