Sports Journalist Joseph Mensah has donated cash and items to the national Women’s Deaf Football team in Bechem in the Bono Region.
Oti-Asirifi, Head of the disability unit at Takoradi and an advocate for people with disabilities donated items such as 10 bags of sachet water, 5 crates of eggs, and a football to the team.
The women’s deaf team is dominated by students from the Bechem School for the Deaf, and they are currently camped at the school dormitory
The women’s deaf team comprises of three officials and a 24-man squad.
They currently train with three balls and use 10 improvised cones.
They are fed by the headmistress of the school on humanitarian grounds.
The team is preparing for African Deaflympics in Kenya later this year which is also a qualification for World Deaflympics in Brazil 2022.
