It was an impeccable start for versatile Ghanaian defender Arago Jamal as he set up the only goal for his new side Sabail FC in the Azerbaijan Premyer Liga in their vital away win over Sabah FC.
The former Drita FC defender joined the side on Thursday and had only two days with the side ahead of the game.
Regardless, Jamal played with the side as if he’s been with the side for a long time.
Jamal lasted the entire duration of the game and created the only goal of the afternoon for his side at the Republic Bank Arena.
The Ghanaian out-jumped his marker to connect a powerful header from a corner kick which was blocked on the goal line by a Sabah FC defender.
Albanian defender Jurgen Goxha pounced on the rebound to register the only goal of the game.
Jamal had a brilliant season with FK Drita in Kosovo, guiding them to second spot on the league table and also to the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He played 34 league games, 4 cup matches and 4 Conference League game to cap a 42-game season for himself.
He’s expected to continue with his fine form for his new side Sabail FC.
The former MTN Soccer Academy best player becomes the second player to play for the side after Michael Essien who ended his career there.
