Head Coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Yaw Preko has revealed the pressure to win the league title accounted for the club’s slump in form during the latter part of the season.
Medeama were top of the Ghana Premier League Table as at Matchday 21 following their come from behind victory against Kotoko.
The Yellow and Mauves fans expected their team to continue their fine form in their quest to win their first Ghana Premier League trophy. However, their title charge fizzled out as a string of poor results knocked Medeama off their perch.
Yaw Preko, reflecting on his team’s performance in the just-ended 2020/2021 season admitted the pressure on his team to win the title accounted for the club’s stutter in form.
“I had to join the team in the second half of the season. The pressure to win the league was mounted and along the line we stumbled” – Yaw Preko told FMIG.
“When we stumbled, we lost a little bit of focus. For us to pick ourselves up and get back into the fight became a little bit difficult for boys. But I’m proud of my boys” – Yaw Preko added during at interaction with FMIG.
Medeama finished the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season in 5th position and seven (7) points adrift of Champions Accra Hearts of Oak.
