Ashantigold SC Defender, Ampem Da Costa has revealed the talk of match-fixing surrounding the club hasn’t affected the playing body’s preparations for the MTN FA Cup Finals.
Ashgold’s season has been blighted by match-fixing allegations following their final game of the 2020/2021 League season where they beat Inter Allies 7-0.
The game and its scoreline drew a lot of controversies and the subject matter is still under investigation by the Ghana Football Association.
The former Asante Kotoko defender however disclosed to FMIG, the playing body are not worried about the match-fixing claims saying they’re only focused on Sunday’s final.
“When you look at the way we’re playing you can clearly see we’re not playing fixed matches. It’s because we’re very good at football.” – Ampem Da Costa told FMIG.
“You look at the way we’re scoring 4,5,6, it’s just down to the work we’re putting at training. It’s not about us fixing matches.”
“As for the rumors, we’re not worried. It is rather motivating us to prove to the whole country that we’re not playing fixed matches” – Da Costa added while speaking with FMIG.
