Asante Kotoko Head Coach Mariano Barreto has named Accra Hearts of Oak as the best team he faced in the just ended Ghana Premier League season.
Barreto was appointed i March this year by the Porcupine Warriors, prior to the commencement of the second round of the campaign to help the club win the league title.
The former Black Stars gaffer however could not accomplish the task as they emerged second best to Samuel Boadu’s Hearts of Oak side.
After a very competitive closing stages to the campaign Hearts of Oak beat Asante Kotoko at Accra to steal a march on their bitgerets rivals and eventually go on to clinch the league title with two matches to spare.
Speaking in an interview on Nhyira FM, The Portuguese Coach rated the Phobians as the beta he’s come up against since assuming the Head Coach role of Kotoko. He also congratulated them on their Legaue triumph.
“The best team we played (against) without any doubt is Hearts. I have to use this moment to congratulate them because I didn’t have the chance. They win the league because they was a team who made more points than any other team. It’s fair to say all these things, ” Barreto replied to a question on the show.
“So congratulations for them (sic),” he concluded.
Barreto is under pressure at Kotoko after failing to win silverware in the 2020-1 campaign.
