After an illustrious career with Real Tamale United, legendary Tawfiq Alolo has finally announced his retirement with the Pride of the North.
The midfielder closed his playing career with the Blue and Whites as their skipper haven’t played for them for 18 years.
To honour him, Alolo was substituted on the 18th minute during their coronation game with Steadfast on Sunday to signify an indelible history in the club.
Alolo started his playing career with RTU in 2003, left for short stints with several clubs around the globe including Nania FC, Marseille, Bordeaux, AC Horsens and Kuwaiti side Haitan FC.
He returned to RTU in 2008 and has since played for the side despite their relegation into the Division One League.
He played for RTU in the Ghana Premier League from 2008 until they suffered relegation in 2011.
He captained them in the DOL in 2012 and gained promotion back into the Premier League but suffered relegation again in 2013 and have had to play in the Division One for 8 years until their promotion again this year.
Following his retirement, the club honoured him with a powerful citation and was given a guard of honour by both RTU and Steadfast players on the 18th minute of the game.
The 35-year old Tawfiq Alolo is currently a Communication Student at the University for Development Studies in Tamale.
