Hasaacas Ladies have today booked their place into the finals of the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B women’s championship, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso side USFA.
The Women’s Premier League and FA Cup champions of Ghana suffered defeat in their first game of the competition but have come back strongly to secure two consecutive wins to reach the finals.
Coach Yusif Basigi’s side secured a 3-0 victory over Niger’s AS Police de Niamey last week for a place in the semis before following it up with a 2-0 win this afternoon over USFA from Burkina Faso.
USFA were the better side in Group A, securing two wins out of two but could not stand the might of the Ghanaian opponent.
The game was heading for a goalless draw in the first half before Veronica Appiah turned up in style, with a powerful header, to provide Hasaacas Ladies with a slim advantage in the game.
Doris Boaduwaa would extend that advantage in the 59th minute of the second half to ensure her club’s progression into the finals of the competition.
By virtue of that win also, Hasaacas Ladies have now booked a place into the CAF Women’s Champions League which is scheduled for Egypt later this year.
