Accra Lions FC were on Saturday crowned by the Ghana Football Association as winners of the Zone 3 of the Division One League following their historic performance in the just ended league.
The Blue and Whites played their coronation game with Division Two side Koowa Naaso FC at the Accra Sports Stadium where they were awarded with a giant trophy, medals and a dummy cheque of ₵50,000.
The Roaring Lions were supposed to have played Amidaus Professionals in the last game of the season but following their absence, they played the Division Two side at the nation’s Wembley on Saturday.
For emerging winners of Zone 3, Accra Lions were presented with 30 gold medals, the giant trophy and the cheque of ₵50k by members of the Division One League Board and staff of the Competitions Department of the GFA.
They will also be given an extra ₵25,000 by the GFA to prepare for the upcoming 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The performance of Accra Lions was incredibly outstanding in the Zone 3 from the start of the league as they showed preparedness and readiness to secure promotion.
