Accra-based Liberty Professionals and Cape Coast side Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs have joined Inter Allies at the three relegated clubs from the Ghana Premier League after the 2020/21 league season.
Liberty failed to beat King Faisal at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope to maintain their stay in the league with the In Sha Allah Boys surviving the drop with the vital point secured.
The Dansoman lads needed a vital win to save themselves from the relegation monster but a spirited performance from a rejuvenated King Faisal sunk the Scientific Soccer Lads.
This comes as a huge blow to many who have admired the Liberty Project which has seen countless number of players including Micheal Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Rabiu Mohammed and Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan all nurturing their careers there.
Liberty’s struggle in the first part of the league could largely be blamed for their drop as they saw an exponential rise in their performance in the second half with new players, new technical team and an adopted home grounds in Sogakope.
For Ebusua Dwarfs, their relegation is wholly blamable on their misconduct at the Cape Coast Stadium which saw referees calling ofÉ– the abrupt end of their game with Legon Cities FC.
They were declared losers of that game and subsequently had 3 points and 3 goals deducted from their accumulated points as a punishment.
Hence, despite their 2-1 win over Bechem United in the final league game or the season, Dwarfs have been relegated.
The two sides, Dwarfs and Liberty, have joined Inter Allies whose relegation was crystal even after the first round, thus having two clubs joining the Division One League next season in Zone 3, with one joining Zone 2.
