Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed Fabio Gama was signed as a result of the club’s inability to secure the services of legendary Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan.
Prior to the start of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian football season, widespread reports suggested Kumasi Asante Kotoko were going to sign Asamoah to beef up the club’s attacking prowess.
The move, however, did not materialize and Gyan signed with Legon Cities sparking a lot of controversies.
Kotoko however, surprisingly signed Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama who had a telling impact on this team since his arrival and CEO of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah has explained Gama was brought in after the club failed to secure the services of Asamoah Gyan
“At some point, we wanted Asamoah Gyan. We pushed but it didn’t happen then we opted for Fabio Gama,” the Asante Kotoko CEO said.
Both Gama and Gyan have had contrasting seasons with the latter being plagued with fitness issues whiles the former has enjoyed a decent campaign contributing to Kotoko’s success this season.
