The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), at its Emergency Meeting held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 on hooliganism in our football, have cautioned club officials over instigating fans against referees.
BA United fans reportedly assaulted the officials of the game involving their team and Real Tamale United FC at the Sunyani Coronation Park last Sunday after the referee awarded RTU a penalty.
The Executive Council in a statement released on Wednesday warned club officials to mindful of their utterance and conduct as a special monitoring team will be put in place to check infraction in the remaining games.
The statement read:
“That club officials, players, coaches and supporters are being reminded to be mindful of their utterances, actions and conduct at match venues as a special monitoring team will be put in place to check infractions in the remaining matches.
“The GFA wishes to sound a note of caution to all players, coaches, attendees of matches and stakeholders that the Association will not hesitate to take action(s) to ensure strict adherence to its Regulations, Disciplinary Code and the national COVID-19 Protocols as well as its approved GFA Match day Protocols.
