The Ghana Football Association through the Executive council has released a statement condemning the bizarre happenings which occurred during the game Division One league game between B.A United and RTU.
BA United fans reportedly assaulted the officials of the game involving their team and Real Tamale United FC at the Sunyani Coronation Park last Sunday after the referee awarded RTU a penalty.
The referees who suffered injuries have been admitted at the hospital and the FA has released a statement condemning the incident.
The lengthy statement follows the one which was released by the Division One League board, with the FA citing the need to reaffirm their stance on the issue.
The statement read:
“That while taking due cognisant of the fact that the Division One League Board (the body mandated to manage the second-tier competition) issued a statement earlier condemning in no uncertain terms the unfortunate violent incidents, the Executive Council also wishes to condemn without any reservations, the criminal conduct, assault and public disorder and the violations of the GFA Match day Protocols (Number of spectators admitted, lack of social distancing, etc) that took place at the Sunyani Coronation Park.”
