It’s been years since Accra Hearts of Oak laid their hands on the Ghana Premier League trophy, a record that has provided opposition fans an advantage in debates.
Since their triumph in the 2008/2009 season the Phobians have never been this close to being crowned champions, and this is an opportunity they wouldn’t want to pass out.
Following their impressive victory over Kotoko last week, the Phobians secured a 3 point lead at the top of the table with just three matches to go.
But with a win over Ebusua Dwarfs today, the league leaders could open a 5 point gap at the top of the summit, thanks to Kotoko’s draw with King Faisal yesterday.
Ebusua Dwarfs vs Hearts: Form guide
Ebusua Dwarfs are currently not in the safest of spots, occupying 12th position with 37 points.
With a lot of bottom teams on a similar point or extremely close margin, the Cape Coast side need a good result to boost their survival hopes.
In fact, that have had an okay run of form in their last five fixtures in the Premier League.
Out of the available 15 points in their last 5 games, Dwarfs have picked up 9 and will be hoping to add to that tally against Hearts of Oak.
They will however need to put in a really good performance against a team which is becoming almost unplayable in recent weeks.
Only Accra Great Olympics have prevented the Phobians from picking up a win in their last 5 games.
The Phobians have won 4 and drawn only one in the stated period.
They have also lost only once in their last 5 away games in the league and will go into the game with the sole objective of winning.
