Following the 5-year ban slapped on second-tier side Phar Rangers by the Ghana Football Association for withdrawing from the league without a just cause, all registered players of the club have an opportunity to be declared free agents.

The Akyem-Tafo based club has been handed the half decade ban following their decision to withdraw from the Division One League after 23 games in the competition.

Phar Rangers in a letter to the FA announcing their withdrawal only stated they should be considered defunct with no further explanation as to why they were taking that decision.

The Ghana FA triggered the appropriate regulations of the association for proper interpretations and possible.

The Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday announced the ruling on the decision by Phar Rangers to withdraw from the league which has seen them suffering a 5-year ban from football.

“That Phar Rangers FC is hereby suspended from all competitions of the Ghana Football Association for a period of Five (5) years effective this 2020/2021 football season in accordance with Article 13(3) of the Division One League Regulations,” the DC ruling read on Wednesday.

However, all registered players of the club will be handed the opportunity to apply for free agent status from the Player Status Committee of the FA, and be granted.

“That having suspended Phar Rangers FC from all competitions of the GFA, the Disciplinary Committee hereby further orders that the players of the club shall apply and shall be granted free agent status by the Player Status Committee of the GFA, free all encumbrances save the conditions attached to the transfers from their previous clubs to Phar Rangers FC,” the ruling added.

The singular decision of Phar Rangers is deemed to have affected the image of the football association, caused fear and panic among clubs and distability as well.
