The Ghana Football Association latest ruling on Phar Rangers has thrown Accra Lions qualifications into hot water despite leading the Tema Youth with a point.
Accra Lions currently lead Zone 3 with 50 points whilst Tema Youth are second place with 49 points.
Phar Rangers were handed the punishment by the DC after their initial decision to withdraw from all GFA organized football activities violated the Association’s rules and regulations.
Despite attempts by the club to rescind the earlier withdrawal letter, it proved too little too late with processes to grant their request already initiated by the GFA.
After the Disciplinary Committee heard the charges brought against the club, it took a decision to ban it from operating for five years.
The consequences of the action will affect the current League standings.
Section 4 of the ruling state that ,
.•That the GFA and its Committees are hereby ordered that any match which that Phar Rangers FC is scheduled to play shall be considered forfeited and accordingly three (3) points and three (3) goals shall be awarded in favour of the opposing club.
By the ruling, Tema Youth who are yet to face Phar Rangers will be awarded three points and three goals.
Accra Lions on the other hand have already honured their game against Phar Rangers and stand no chance of benefiting from the decision.
