The National Circles Council, the biggest supporters body of Asante Kotoko have expressed their unhappiness over the action of the club’s deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi.
Gyamfi is facing charges by the Ghana Football Association, following an off the ball in evident involving Inter Allies midfielder Andy Okpe.
The winger exhibited unsporting behavior in a premier league game against Inter Allies as he deliberately stepped on Okpe, a scene captured live on TV.
The Ghana FA after reviewing the incident has referred the player to the Disciplinary Committee for breaching Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.
Speaking to Silver FM on the matter, the Communication Officer of the NCC, Alexander Osei Owusu condemned the act and warned Gyamfi against such acts in the future.
“Honestly speaking the leadership of the NCC is not happy with Gyamfi’s act of deliberately stamping on the Inter Allies player which is going viral,” he said.
“We talked to Gyamfi after the game that we are not happy with that and made him aware we don’t support such act because he is the acting captain of the team…So he will be disappointing the club if he avail himself to be tagged with such act,” he concluded.
If found culpable, Emmanuel Gyamfi is likely to suffer a suspension and/or a fine.
