Defending champions, Asante Kotoko have progressed to the next stage of the 2020-21 MTN FA Cup competition after getting the better of Bekwai Youth Football Academy.
The Premier league giants tripped to Bekwai to face the division one league outfit in a dicery round of 64 tie.
Prior to the encounter, Kotoko were not in the best of form- having slipped in the GPL title race, following a run of three Co secitive draws.
Coach Mariano Barreto started with a full strength side including Brazilian talisman Fabio Gama.
After a goalless first half, Kotoko needed Gama to inspire some Samba delight and the Brazilian reposnded with the game’s first goal in the 51st minute.
Midfielder Emmanuel Keyekeh added another some ten minutes later to double Asante Kotoko’s lead.
The goal gave the away side the needed cushioning which they held on well to ensure a 2-0 final result.
The win sees Kotoko advance to the round of 32 of the competition which they won during the last edition.
