Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey has revealed the players are more than determined to end the club’s 11-year trophy drought.
The combative midfielder has been one of the best performers for the Phobians in the ongoing campaign and his efforts were once again rewarded when he was adjudged Man-of-the-Match in the Phobians 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea last Sunday.
The result meant that Hearts reclaimed top spot and also opened up a two-point gap over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.
Afutu believes all other players were aware of the long trophy drought and are focused on breaking the jinx.
“We have advised ourselves as players regarding the situation of not winning a trophy for the last 11 years. The concentration of the guys is very high this time around and we have to do our best, come together and deliver the cup for the club at the end of the season,’’ he said.
Hearts next face city rivals Accra Great Olympics in the much-fancied Accra Derby after their rivals narrowly edged them out in the first round.
