Ghana Football Association has debunked claims the association intends to sack Black Stars coach C.K Akunnor following the arrival of an expatriate coach brought in to augment the Technical team.
The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association on Monday announced it had agreed to the request of C.K Akonnor for the appointment of a second Assistant coach to further strengthen the technical team of the Black Stars.
The news was met with lots of skepticism because of the long-held opinion that local coaches are not rated highly in this country.
Some fans even took to social media to claim that this is an attempt to sack Akonnor but the FA have refuted such claims adding that the request for back-up was made by Akonnor himself.
“We are not sacking CK or Duncan. They made a request for an additional coach and we thought the reasons made sense which is why the Executive Council approved it. It is for the good of the national team.” A source at the FA said.
