Asante Kotoko escaped fire on Saturday against Aduana Stars as the two sides engaged in a Ghana Premier league match week 27 encounter.
Kotoko traveled to Dormaa to face the Ogya Lads who threatened to breathe fire on the Porcupine Warriors.
Aduana Stars, a two time champion had a formidable recordable at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park ahead of the game and the intent was to keep it intact. They had won their last 6 games at home and eyed making Asante Kotoko their next victim.
Kotoko also approached the game with the target of getting a win and establishing a gap at the top of the table.
The game was tensed from the beginning with both sides a bit cautious in their offensive movements.
It was the home side who had opportunities to take the lead, twice in the first half.
First, former Kotoko player Sam Adams’ effort from close range was thwarted by a brilliant save by Kotoko goalie Razak Abalora while defender Nurudeen Abdulai also saw his header cannon off the woodwork and bounce out of play.
Samuel Bioh who struck the winner in the first round fixture continued to be a thorn in the flesh of the Kotoko setup with a brilliant display.
Kotoko also had some decent chances to take the lead but found themselves delivering poor final passes.
Chances were few throughout the game as both sides ended the game without a goal.
The 0-0 result sees Aduana Stars move to 40 points and lying 7th on the league log. Kotoko have a one point advantage over Hearts of Oak in the title race on 47 points.
Their position though is likely to change depending on how other results go on Sunday.
