Survival-chasing Legon Cities travel to face AshantiGold SC at Obuasi on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League Match Week 27 fixture.
The Royals are in desperate need of points to boost their survival bid and they face AshantiGold SC who are also eager for points to turn around their topsy turvy campaign.
The home side will face former coach Bashir Hayford and former player Hans Kwoffie in Sunday’s encounter. Coach Hayford led AshantiGold to their 4th League crown with Hans Kwoffie leading the attack. The duo brought immense joy to the people of Obuasi who massively support The Miners.
On Sunday they both visit Obuasi on a different mission, which is to take from their former side the maximum points to aid their current side’s push for survival.
They have been on a resurgence in recent times, winning two of their last three matches. They are 11th in the table with 32 points. Despite these positives Legon Cities still lie just 3 points above the relegation zone and need more positive results to improve their chances of survival.
AshantiGold SC on the other hand have not made any massive impact in their campaign having been one of the few inconsistent sides in the league.
The Miners have struggled for form in the last 5 games, winning just one, losing 3 and drawing one.
They currently lie 9th on the table with 34 points accumulated (which is two more than Sunday’s Opponents) and need to boost their points tally subsequently to avoid any late flirtation with the drop zone.
The game is expected to be a keen contest with both sides likely to go all out attacking wise.
The match will be live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.
