Accra Great Olympics came back from a goal down to rescue a point in the Ghana Premier League away fixture against Karela United.
The Dade Boys tripped to the CAM Park at Nzema Aiyinase for this match week 27 encounter.
Both teams who were far form the top saw the game as an opportunity to narrow the gap between themselves and the pacesetters at the summit of the league standings.
Karela United who started the day lying 5th on the log on 42 points, trailing tables toppers Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko by 4 points.
Great Olympics who had 43 points also saw the game as a chance to go equal on points with the two aforementioned table toppers ahead of their respective matches this weekend.
The home side drew first blood after a penalty was awarded in their favor. Leading Premier League goalscorer Diawusie Taylor stepped up and expertly converted his kick to give Karela United the advantage.
The 10th minute goal by Taylor took his season tally 16 goals, 6 more than the current active close contender Hans Kwoffie.
Karela after taking the lead eyed ending the first half with the advantage but the away side had different ideas.
Olympics restored parity with a minute to end the first half. Samuel Abbey Ashie-Quaye delivered the much needed goal for his side to ensure the first half ended in a stalemate.
The game witnessed no more goals in the second half with both sides more cautious about conceding another goal.
With the game ending in a 1-1 draw, Great Olympics cements their place in the third position for now on 44 points while Karela United also move into the top 4 with a point tally of 43.
Their positions are likely to change depending on how other results go.
