Asante Kotoko will eye remaining atop the Ghana Premier League standings with a win against Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs when the two face off on Thursday.
The Porcupine Warriors would observe Wednesday’s results with smiles on their faces after other title contenders dropped points. They now have the chance to stretch their lead on top and embolden their bid for the ultimate at the end of the season.
Kotoko are entering this game on a run of back to back wins. After suffering a heartbreaking home defeat to Medeama SC, Coach Mariano Barreto has turned the table around nicely to secure wins against Legon Cities and Dreams FC. This run pushed them above their competitors in the race for the title.
They also come up against an opponent they enjoy playing in recent times. Kotoko has beaten Dwarfs in their last four games and remain unbeaten against them in the last 5.
What makes this more grim, is Dwarfs has scored just one goal in the last five games against the Porcupine Warriors.
On current form basis, Dwarfs has won just one of the last five games and remain winless on the road, losing four and drawing one.
Facing Kotoko at Obuasi will be tough and Coach Ernest Thompson-Quartey will need to dig deeper into his tactics to put together a plan capable of getting him results.
No matter how hard they try, it’s hard to see Dwarfs escaping Asante Kotoko without defeat.
The game will be live On Startimes Channel 247 with kick off at 3pm GMT.
