Asante Kotoko player Fabio Gama believes Ghanaian referees can do more to protect players on the field of play.
The Brazilian playmaker has become a fan favourite owing to a string of fine performances for the Porcupine Warriors this season. Gama undoubtedly is blessed with amazing football skills but concerns have been raised about his body-build. Many believe the 28 year old’s lack of physique is hampering his ability to take the Ghana Premier League by storm.
Despite showing his brilliance on the pitch and proving he’s Kotoko’s go-to man in difficult situations, Gama has not really been consistent in his delivery.
There are matches he completely becomes ineffective due to how physical such games play out.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Pure FM, Fabio Gama has requested for much protection from referees.
“Ghana Football is too physical… sometimes we have to complain because the referees have to protect the players,” he said.
“The Referees will have to think about it and protect the players on the pitch,” he added.
So far, Fabio Gama has scored twice and assisted three times in over 15 matches played in the current season.
