Berekum Chelsea FC have been given a conditional license to use the Golden City Park for their home league matches, the Ghana Football Association’s Club Licensing Board (CLB) has confirmed.
The CLB upon considering the report of the Club Licensing Manager from the Berekum Golden City Park took this decision based on the improvement regarding works done at the facility.
The Golden City Park was deemed unfit for purpose by the CLB who revoked an initial license issued to allow the facility host sanctioned GFA matches. The decision taken affected both Berekum Chelsea and neighbors Arsenal, who play in the National Division One League.
However, per the report of the Club Licensing Manager, the CLB observed that there has been a considerable improvement in the quality of the playing pitch and commended both Berekum Arsenal and Berekum Chelsea for the effort.
Based on the above, the Board decided to restore the Conditional License of the Golden City on the condition that the pitch shall be maintained throughout the course of the season and that all issues regarding the irrigation system at the facility shall also be restored before the next home match.
