Medeama SC suffered a slip in their chase for a first Premier League title, following a nil defeat to Accra Great Olympics.
The two side clashed in the opening game of the second round of the campaign.
The Tarkwa-based side started the day as the 5th placed time, searching an opportunity to climb up the ladder and close the point gap.
They face a solid Great Olympics side who had a fantastic campaign in the first half of the season and were motivated by that to do more than just sit in their second placed position.
In a closely fought affair, Olympics secured the maximum points at full time following a first half goal by Samuel Ashie-Quaye.
The win dents Medeama’s title charge and to rub salt into the Mauves and Yellow’s injury, their conquerors, move top of the table.
Medeama are still stuck on 27 points and lie 5th on the table though their position is likely be a bit lower after the weekend’s round of games depending on happenings.
Medeama were busy during the second transfer window with the acquisition of stellar talents like Amed Toure, Zakaria Mumuni, Vincent Atingah, Zana Coulibaly, among others.
This adds to an already established side that boasts the likes Justice Blay, Rashid Nortey, Richard Boadu, Prince Opoku Agyemang, Agyenim Boateng, Eric Ofori Antwi et al.
They havs also beefed up their technical team with Yaw Preko and Yaw Acheampong following the departure of Samuel Boadu to Hearts of Oak.
