A first half striker by Accra Great Olympics defender Samuel Abbey Ashie-Quaye was enough to give his side victory over Medeama SC and send the Dade Boys top of the Ghana Premier League table.
The two title contenders clashes in the opening game of the second round of the ongoing 2020-21 season which has so far not been bereft of excitement.
Olympics started the day lying second on the table on 30 points, 1 fewer than leaders Karela United.
Medeama, who had 27 were eyeing an opportunity to climb into the Top 4 and keep their title chase well on track.
However, Ashie-Quaye’s strike inside 36 minutes was enough to do the damage to the away side and dash their hopes of picking at least a point from the Accra Sports Stadium to Tarkwa.
Despite scoring early, Olympics held on resolutely to ensure a vital 1nil win. The result sends them top of the table on 33 points, 2 more than Karela United who play next against AshantiGold SC at home on Sunday.
Samuel Abbey Ashie-Quaye is so far having an exciting season on Ghana’s top flight. He has so far made 12 appearances for the Dade Boys scoring 4 goals.
