Medeama SC’s Akoon Park has been named among 5 Ghana Premier League venues to be inspected by the Ghana Football Association ahead of the commencement of the second round of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
The facility is presently the home venue of Medeama SC who play in Ghana’s top flight.
Medeama SC use the Akoon Park, while Karela United (present league leaders) use the CAM Park. About 4 clubs comprising Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Great Olympics and Inter Allies use the Accra Sports Stadium while AshantiGold SC also use the Len Clay Stadium. Lastly, Ebusua Dwarfs use the Cape Coast stadium.
The inspection will be done by the GFA’s Club Licensing Board (CLB) ahead of the commencement of Match day 18 of the ongoing season.
The spot check inspection exercise forms part of the effort by the CLB’s efforts to ensure recommendations given clubs who use the facilities are adhered to.
Upon observations made during the inspection, the CLB will take the necessary action whether to revoke the licenses of the venues or decide otherwise.
Already, the body mandated to oversee the club licensing process has already revoked the licenses of the Carl Reindoff Park, home venue of Liberty Professionals), the Nduom Stadium, venue for Elmina Sharks) and the Golden City Park, home venue of Berekum Chelsea and Division One League side Berekum Arsenals.
