Renowned striker Ahmed Toure proved his mettle for his new side Medeama SC as he netted twice on his debut to secure them an away win at Elmina.
Toure, a former Asante Kotoko and Bechem United striker signed for the Mauves and Yellow just before the activation of the second transfer windowast month on a free.
The former ASEC Mimosas goal poacher was unable to feature for his new side since he wasn’t not yet registered.
However after the necessary processes were completed, he got his first start for Coach Samuel Boadu’s side and it didn’t take him long to announce his return to the Ghana Premier League.
Toure netted inside 3 minutes to give Medeama SC the lead away at Elmina Sharks.
After Sharks had equalized and it looked like the match was ending in a draw, Ahmed Toure showed up and delivered a crucial second goal for himself and his side to give them a 2-1 lead with 5 minutes of normal time remaining.
Medeama eventually held on to claim maximum points. The win sees them climb to 5th on the table on 23 points; trailing league leaders Karela United by 5 points.
There eis now a growing belief that with Toure providing the clinical finishing the side was lacking in the first round, they could finally mount a serious challenge for the GPL title.
