Top South African Coach Steve Komphela has enquired about Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku, Footballmadeinghana.com can exclusively confirm.
The high-flying young striker has seen his stock rise after fronting Asante Kotoko’s charge for the Ghana Premier League title and also their African adventure.
Opoku who is in his maiden season with the Porcupine Warriors is their leading scorer in all competitions. He was recently invited to the camp of the senior national team of Ghana for his exploits.
The former Nkoranza Warriors goal poacher has netted 7 goals in 14 league appearances for his new side. His overall performances has seen interests in him multpily by the day.
After scoring Asante Kotoko’s only goal in a painful 2-1 home defeat to Algerian side ES Setif in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, South African Coach Steve Komphela called to enquire about his situation.
The revered Coach who is now in charge of Mamelodi Sundowns made his intentions known of the player and registered an interest.
It is expected that talks will proceed but FMIG cannot confirm if Asante Kotoko will discuss the player’s imminent exit from the club.
Komphela isn’t the only Coach to have his radar on the 21 year old his striker.
Last month, Egyptian giants Zamalek registered an interest and continue to monitor the player’s development at Asante Kotoko.
