It’s a win or bust situation for Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko as they go face to face with Algerian side ES Setif in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
The game is the first of a two legged affair with the winner advancing to the group stage of the competition.
The Porcupine Warriors who play as host in this one are seeking a return to the Group Stage to test their might against some of Africa’s finest.
However they will have to overcome the Black Eagles from Algeria who have consistently proven they are tricky away customers.
Setif have not lost an away game since November 2019 and will surely be buoyed by this to extend this enviable streak.
They currently top the Algerian league table after Round 13, and have a game in hand.
Asante Kotoko are not short of confidence either. The Porcupine Warriors have turned their season around nicely.
After an undesirable start to the season, Coach Maxwell Konadu was axed and eventually replaced by Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazale.
With these men at the helm, Kotoko have risen to the summit of the local league table.
They will be hoping to transfer this fine league form into their games in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The match will be showed live on Asante Kotoko’s CEEK Channel, and also on GTV Sports Plus.
Asante Kotoko Form:
The Porcupine Warriors have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games.
Their only defeat came against Aduana Stars at home.
ES Setif Form:
The Algerians have quite a similar record to Asante Kotoko in their last 5 games.
They have won 2, drawn 2 and lost one of their last 5 games.
