Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC are to play their home matches without fans following a charge by the Ghana FA for Covid-19 protocol breaches.

The Tarkwa based club has been charged in relation to Covid-19 breaches during their Ghana Premier League Week 12 clash against Hearts of Oak at the Tarkwa Akoon Park on Thursday February 4, 2021.

According to the Ghana FA Match Day Protocols, only 25% of a stadium’s capacity are to be allowed to watch games while there should be strict adherence to wearing of nose masks, social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols.

During the game, Medeama failed to ensure the above as there was a clear lack of social distancing with several fans shown on TV not wearing nose masks.

The Ghana FA have reacted by condemning Medeama’s violations of these GFA Matchday Protocols and as a result, hauled the club  before its Disciplinary Committee at its next sitting.

However, until their case is heard, they are to play their matches behind closed doors. This means only Ten (10) Management Members of Medeama SC, Ten (10) Management Members for Away clubs and Ten (10) media persons shall be allowed (to be accredited by the GFA) to the Akoon Park for Medeama’s next home matches.
