Aduana Stars Head Coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has explained how he masterminded his side’s victory over Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.
The two teams clashed in their Match Week 10 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with a lot at stake. For Kotoko, the game offered an opportunity to ascend the apex of the league standings while Aduana also saw a chance to close to gap with the top teams.
It was the latter which manifested however as a Samuel Bioh strike gave Aduana Stars a precious 1 nil victory.
Reflecting on how the game panned out, Coach Fabin believes, he won the battle of wits in the middle and that aided his game plan to achieve the result.
The former Ghana U-17 Coach said Kotoko’s game plan meant he had to have more presence in the midfield to nullify their threat and aid his team’s prospects.
“The reason why we played five in the midfield is because their game is in the midfield. They swing passes and they give a long pass to Kwame Poku who has the speed to latch on to the ball to score,” Paa Kwesi Fabin disclosed during the post match interview.
“So we needed to deny the midfield from the supply to Kwame Poku and we did exactly that,” he added.
The win moves Aduana into the Top 4 with 16 points, just two behind leaders Karela United.
